Homegrown Theologian assumes you have the basic reading comprehension skills to be able to read in general.

In this program, what we primarily help with is the structure, accountability and habits needed to read consistently.

However, our Reading Difficulty Accelerator (currently included as a bonus) will help you build you reading stamina so you can tackle older and/or more academic books.

Is this program for men only? Or can women join too?

Although God has called men to be leaders in the home, Church and state, and although this program is aimed at Christian men primarily, we will not explicitly withhold enrolment from women, and welcome them to join.

What if I'm a new Christian?

Praise God! This program is perfect for the new Christian who wants to develop solid Bible & book reading habits early on in their sanctification journey.

What if I'm not Reformed or a Protestant?

While this program does approach theological concepts from a generally Reformed perspective, we welcome all of our historic Protestant brethren into this program (Lutherans, Methodists, Anglicans, General Baptists etc.)

If you are outside of ‘historic Protestantism’ (i.e. Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, etc.), in order to create unity, we have a zero-tolerance policy for Gospel-denying doctrine to be shared in the program community. Absolutely. This program is actually primarily aimed at ordinary Christians who want to deepen their knowledge and build good reading habits, without having to get an expensive degree they’ll never use.

What is your theological training?

I am not the theological expert. But the authors of the books we will study are. My experience and expertise is in providing the structure and accountability needed to do the study yourself.

However if you want more information on my qualifications, I have 10 years of experience in online education outside of theology. Also, having an undergraduate degree already, I am pursuing an MDiv in 2026.
